Our Veterinary Team
The team at Long Island Bird & Exotic Vet Clinic is led by Dr. Shachar Malka, an avian and exotic pet specialist who founded LIBEVC in 2016. He is joined by his associates Dr. Nicolle Lofgren and Dr. Gina Vecere who completed their internships at LIBEVC. The doctors along with their dedicated team help care for thousands of birds, fish, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and more.

We are continually searching for the latest medical advancements through our participation in continuing education. Our veterinarians are well published and continue to publish scientific articles on a variety of topics in avian and exotic animal medicine. They lecture at international veterinary meetings, as well as other regional avian, exotics and wildlife related events.
We specialize in advanced surgical procedures, endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery, complicated anesthesia and advanced imaging. In addition to our high end specialized care, we also offer referrals and second opinions, behavioral consultations, routine annual exams, and boarding and grooming.
Emergency Vet Care
Long Island Bird and Exotics Vet Clinic offers 24-hour emergency vet services. Our staff works around the clock to care for your pets, and we provide comprehensive overnight and weekend care for hospitalized pets at our animal hospital.
Animals We Treat
Long Island Bird & Exotics Veterinary Clinic (LIBEVC) cares exclusively for exotic pets. We recommend bringing your exotic pets for annual physicals and, of course, to schedule an appointment with us if your pet has an injury or if you think they might be sick.
